This is Ghulam Mustafa, who is 25 years old. He is married, the father of two children and he lives in Angoorbagh in Nangarhar province. He has a tailoring shop in Jalalabad city. Mustafa has decided to make a group loan with four other members. They all work at different trades: Mujeeb operates a Public Call Office, Merwais and Shapooris are tailors and Samsoor has a retail food shop. They would like to take out a 50000(AF) group loan with a term of 10 months (for each person 10000AF). Mustafa says that he can manage his group and that they can repay the loan on time. They would like to thank all the lenders from around the world, Kiva and AFSG in Afghanistan, for providing this process for loan to the poor countries.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
