Yin Theap, 37, lives in Siem Reap Province where she makes a living by growing rice. She has been a farmer since 1979. She has no children and is married to Mr. Kan Mean, 43. He is a fisherman. She works hard everyday with her business to earn money to meet her family’s needs. She needs a loan to purchase rice seed and fertilizer and to pay for plowing her farmland. Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
