Khat S., 47, is married and lives in Saang District, Kandal Province, Cambodia. She works with her husband on her rice paddy growing rice, corn, nuts, and cucumbers, making collectively around $5.50 per day from her activity. Khat S. has six children. Two of them are students and four of them are employed as workers. Khat S. learned farming skills from her parents starting from when she was 10. Even thought it’s hard work, she really adores it and will never give it up.
This year her output is decreased. Some of her crops were destroyed by insects and rats. In order to prevent that happening again and to increase her output margin, Mrs. Khat S. and her husband would like to request a loan from Kiva to purchase insecticide, seeds, gasoline, and fertilizer.
