The village bank which consists of eight people is located in Slaeng village in Kandal province. Mr. San P. is the village bank president who was selected by the members. He is a farmer who cultivates both rice and vegetables. Since his fields are both far from an irrigation system, he decided to ask for a loan to buy a pump to water his field to make his crop more productive. His wife, Mrs. Srey Phorn, is a housewife who cooks for the family. This couple lives together without any children.

One member in this village bank loan has applied for an end-of-term loan and the rest have monthly payment loans. The end-of-term (EoT) loan is AMK's main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia's poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK's clients make their payments on time.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
