Mrs. Vay Y. is 44 years old and a rice farmer who lives in Koh Village. She has been farming since 1980 and is married with three children; one is employed and the other helps with the family's farm. Her husband is a construction worker and being mobile is one of the requirements of his job. Rice farming is the main source of income for the family and she is responsibility of caring for the farm. She is requesting a loan to purchase three oxen to use on the farm.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
