Mrs. Huch P., 45, and her husband, Mr. Samorn Ouch, 43, who live on an island on the Mekong River about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh, were married in 1989 and five children: three sons and two daughters. Two of her children are weavers and the other three children attend school.

Huch, who has been a silk weaver since she was 13, a skill she learned from her mother, sells her finished products to the middleman, who then resells them in Phnom Penh. Her husband, on the other hand, has been raising cows for sale since they were married. Huch is now requesting a loan of $300 to purchase additional silk material for weaving.
