Anabel Gregoria
Anabel works at a small company as an accounts assistant, and is studying Public Accountancy at the Universidad Publica El Alto (El Alto Public University). She uses her income to help her family to feed her younger siblings. She lives in the Villa Ingenio area of El Alto city.

She is currently living with her parents but is looking for an "anticrético" room (see below for a definition of "anticrético") nearer her work, as this is some distance from her parents' house, to help her save both time and money.

She will use the requested loan to pay the rent on the room where she hopes to live. ("Anticrético" is a legally binding contract of two years' duration, in which the landlord allows an individual or family to live in a room or whole apartment for a sum of money paid in advance, which will be returned to the tenant at the end of the contract.)

This is the first loan she has requested from Impro, which has been assessed favorably.

Additional Information

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
