Esther is 42 and has been working in Accra central market since she was 25. Her experience in the market has made her one of the more successful traders. Esther buys clothing materials, laced clothes, and ladies shoes at wholesale prices, and distributes it personally to various stalls inside the market. She is married with two kids, a boy and a girl, currently in school. Her hard work means so much to the family since it contributes to the payment of utility bills, education fees, and food bills.
Esther would like to distribute higher quality products, but will need a loan to do so. With the loan, she wishes to purchase more yards of laced cloth, ladies shoes, and materials. In the future, she hopes to save enough money to own her own stall inside the market. She is a member of the trust group called “Nnowm” (meaning, song). Members in this group provide support to one another in handling repayment of the loan.
