Mrs. Ellen D. S. is 37 years old, married with 1 child. Her husband used to be an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) but he decided to come home and stay with his family. It was then that they started a mini grocery store located on the national high way of Lupagan, Clarin, Misamis Occidental.
For more than two years now, the store has been doing great. Ellen's husband cultivates land for additional income.
Ellen joined Paglaum MPC as she admired the programs and services that the cooperative offered.
Paglaum MPC is her new partner in business. She is now requesting a loan in the amount of $1025 as additional capital for her business. The loan will be used to purchase additional grocery stock for her mini grocery store.
Ellen's dream is to build a one stop shop grocery store and to use the proceeds from the business to send her son to school for a bachelor's degree.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
