Enyonam F. is a wife and mother of five children who are currently in school. She is a 40-year-old trader who trades in charcoal and bags of gari. Charcoal is a very popular cooking fuel in many traditional Ghanaian homes. She has been in this business for the past 3 years. Through her business, she has supported two of her children through senior high school. Enyonam obtains her supply of charcoal from the surrounding villages of Tema and sells it at retail to her customers. She wants to use the loan to buy more charcoal and bags of gari to increase her stock. She believes the loan will enable her to increase her savings to provide for the educational needs of her children. She belongs to the community group called Morning Star Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee for one another and provide support to one another to repay the loan.
