Las Limonarias Group
In this Group: Maria Fidelfa , Josefina , Juan , Maria De Los Angeles , Rita , Atanacia , Humberto
This group has come together in the sugar-cane growing area and together the members have decided to name the group "Las Limonarias". The group has seven hard-working members who, every day, look after the well-being of their family. To do this, each one of them has started a business.

One of the best things about the area here is the national holiday, celebrated on 24 November as this is when the Feast of Christ the King, the local patron saint, takes place. On this day, in the morning serenades are sung from 6am until 10am, mass is taken, and local children are baptised. In the afternoon and evening, the celebration continues with folk events, fireworks, fairground rides and dancing. These are times where everybody can have fun safely in the company of friends and family.

The members of "Las Limonarias" group and their businesses are:

María: sells shoes out of a catalogue;
Josefina: sells meat;
Juan: sells groceries;
María de los Angeles: sells snacks;
Rita: sells chicken;
Atanacia: sells snacks; and
Humberto: grinding service.

María is happy, hard-working and friendly woman. For twelve years she has made a living selling drinks, sweets, pork scratchings, corn-on-the-cob and other items from a moveable cart. María sets up her stall at the community park. "I like to work at my stall every day in the afternoon as I keep busy and earn a profit," says María. She started this work as she felt very alone at home. With this business, she is in contact with many people who come to the park to play volleyball, to run, walk, or simply to chat.

This loan will be used to stock up María's business with chewing gum, ice-lollies, pork scratchings, soft drinks, juices, biscuits, water, sauces, cheese, mayonnaise and more

The members of "Las Limonarias" group are grateful to Kiva and Vision Fund México for the trust put in thim and for this loan opportunity.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
