Emerenciana has been running a buy-and-sell business in order to provide for the needs of her two children. She sells assorted groceries in their village, to make a living. Her husband helps her in operating her business. Aside form this business, the couple was also engaged in their fishing business that they earns more income. To improve sales, she took another loan, which she will use to purchase more groceries to resell. In the future, Emerenciana wants to improve the general living situation of the entire family. Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
