Cecile E. is a 36 year old married mother, who lives in the village of Wome. There is no electricity in Wome. It is a small village located approximately 130 kilometers from Lomé, the Togolese capital.

Cecile makes and sells palm oil to provide for her family. This oil is an ingredient widely used in Togolese dishes. The process of making palm oil takes several days and requires considerable attention and skill. With this loan from Kiva, Cecile plans to buy a fresh supply of palm nuts to make palm oil to sell. With the profits she will earn, she will be able to pay for her childrens’ school fees and other expenses.
