The Tropical Communal Bank is represented by Mrs. Jenny. The members already have experience with supportive groups, as most of them were part of the last loan they received. There were some late payments, but the spirit of the most responsible people of the group helped keep them going and they were not defeated by a bad experience. Now they are confronting a new challenge and feel capable of continuing to work with the communal bank. All of the members are mothers dedicated to selling various products such as clothing, cosmetics, food, condiments, soft drinks, vegetables, and seasonable products. Some have permanent sales stalls and others are street vendors. This loan will be used to buy ingredients and materials, in particular for the Christmas season, which is when the market is the busiest and sells the most products.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
