Nafija was born in 1958 and she lives in Rostov, a suburb in Bosnia. She is married and her husband is retired. He receives 200KM/month from his retirement pension, the equivalent of just $128 USD/month. This is not enough income to support the family, so they have several small businesses on the side.
They grow and sell tomatoes and potatoes, they own two cows and sell the milk to their neighbors, and they manage a small corn field, so that they have corn to feed their cattle.
Nafija requests a loan of 1,200KM from Women for Women International to purchase food for her cattle to survive the winter. The loan is important for her, because her cows are her primary source of income.
