Nikolai
Nikolai is from Khoost. For three years now, she has been selling fireworks for weddings and other celebrations and holidays. Nikolai rents a space in the center of the city to run his business. He does all the work himself - he doesn't have any hired workers. With the 30,000 hryvnia (UAH) received from Kiva, Nikolai plans to invest the funds in renovating his apartment. Nikolai wants to renovate his apartment with the goal of being able save money in the future on his utilities. Specifically, he wants to install new windows and doors (as the old ones let in the cold) and replace his old bathtub with a new one. Nikolai's dream is to own home one day and build a future for his still young son.

About HOPE Ukraine

HOPE International, a Christian faith-based non-profit organization, has been operating in Ukraine since 1997. HOPE Ukraine was the organization’s first international venture. About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
