Fred is acquiring a loan to buy soft drinks, cooking oil, sugar and other items to sell. He is 35 years old and lives in Hoima, Uganda. He has a retail shop supplemented by a bar. Poor roads make transportation of goods to his business expensive, thus increasing his operational costs and consequently reducing profits. He hopes to expand his business.

This loan is part of HOFOKAM's program targeting poor and geographically excluded populations in Western Uganda. In addition to loans, it provides social and business training programs to low-income entrepreneurs and their communities.
