The Balimaya group consists of married women who on average are 37 years old with two children. They all live in traditional families in the town of Fana in the Dioïla district, which is part of the Koulikoro region (second administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

They met through kinship, neighborhood ties and friendship. They sell food preparations, condiments, soap and various items.

The Balimaya group of women are on their ninth group loan. To meet their customers' huge demand, they seek assistance from Soro Yiriwaso.

Mamou, the person who is kneeling, is illiterate and currently sells various items. She intends to buy cartons of ear-rings, necklaces and rings from wholesalers in Bamako.

Retail sales are conducted for cash, at her home and sometimes as an itinerant vendor, to a mixed clientele. She expects to achieve monthly profits of 45,000 CFA francs, which will be reinvested in her business.

Le groupe BALIMAYA est composé de femmes mariées, elles ont en moyenne 37 ans et 2 enfants. Elles vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles dans la ville de Fana, préfecture de Dioïla, Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la République du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Elles font la restauration, le commerce de condiments, de savon et d’articles divers.
Les femmes du groupe BALIMAYA sont à leur neuvième prêt solidaire.
Dans le but de satisfaire la demande énorme de leurs clientèles, elles font recours à Soro Yiriwaso.
La cliente MAMOU, personne assises est analphabète, elle est actuellement vendeuse d’article divers. Elle compte acheter des cartons de boucle d’oreille, de collier et de bague chez les grossistes à Bamako.
La vente se fait en détail et en espèce chez elle et parfois ambulante à une clientèle mixte. Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 45 000Fcfa, qui sera réinvesti dans son activité.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
