Romulo is 59 years old, married and lives in Simacolong, Lazi, Siquijor, Philippines. In order to earn a living, he raises pigs. Through Paglaum MPC he obtained the capital to purchase his original piglets and feed. Now he is requesting a loan of 14,900 PHP to purchase feed and hogs for raising. He really hopes and prays that his business will grow and benefit his family, in addition to the income of his wife. Someday, he wants to build a concrete pig cage to easily keep more sanitary conditions.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
