The communal association, “CETNRAL ALPACOMA”, will begin the fifth cycle of Pro Mujer, as part of the Focal Center of Villa Exaltación. The association is made up of 8 members, and a directive table manages it where Mrs. Gricela is the secretary. The businesses that the members of the communal association carry forward vary, among them exist: selling clothes, making sweaters, selling meat, selling cheese, cafeteria services.

The loan that they are requesting will benefit small micro-entrepreneurs of which Mrs. Gricela is a member. She states that it has been 2 years since she has been a member of Pro Mujer, joining in at the invitation of a friend that is a client of the institution. Currently, she has a business in a workshop making clothes for men. She indicates that she opened this business alongside her partner. When she met her partner, he already had a sewing workshop and that is why he taught her, slowly, sewing techniques.

The loan she is requesting now is to increment her capital (to purchase wholesale fabrics) that she will acquire from the wholesale sellers of the city of El Alto. After she makes the clothes, she will sell her products in a marketing space.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes the health area and the training offered by the institution.

In the photograph one of the members is absent; she left for personal reasons.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
