More information about this loan

This loan is part of HKL's new water and sanitation loan program designed to help improve living standards of poor and low-income people living in Cambodia. Loans under the program are directed at various products that help improve access to clean water and improved sanitation facilities including loans for water tanks, filters, wells, distribution, and latrines. These loans help to reduce rates of waterborne disease, improve health, and increase economic outcomes for poor families. HKL has designed this social loan product to feature a lower rate than typical.

About HKL

Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
