Benkola (Accord) Group

The members of the group BENKOLA are mostly married women who average 20 years of age and one child. They live in traditional polygamous families with their husband and children in the village of Marka-Coungo (Koulikoro region, Republic of Mali).


The women of the group know one another via marital ties and are specialized in the commerce of beauty products. They are on their eighth solidarity loan (group loan) with Soro Yiriwaso. All of their preceding loans have been correctly repaid. This new loan will serve to buy: 300 jars of ointment and cream, 200 bottles of perfume of different grades, and other beauty care products.


They get their supplies exclusively in Bamako (capital of Mali) from wholesalers in this field. They come back to sell the goods at the marketplaces of Marka-Coungo and Fana, cash or credit accepted, to customers essentially composed of women. They each hope to realize a profit of 30,000 francs CFA per cycle each month that will be used to cover family expenses (cost of food, hygiene, and schooling for the children).

Les membres du groupe sont en majorité des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 20 ans et 1 enfant. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles polygames avec leur mari et enfants dans le village de Marka-Coungo (Région de Koulikoro République du Mali).
Les femmes du groupe BENKOLA se sont connues par des relations de mariages et sont spécialisées dans le commerce des produits de beauté.
Elles sont à leur huitième prêt solidaire (prêt de groupe) avec Soro Yiriwaso et tous les prêts précédents ont été correctement remboursés.
Ce nouveau prêt servira à acheter, 300 boites de pommade et crème, 200 bouteilles parfums de différentes qualités et d’autres effets pour le maquillage.
Elles s’approvisionnent exclusivement à Bamako (capitale de la république du Mali) auprès de grossiste de ce domaine. Elles reviennent vendre les produits dans les marchés de Marka-Coungo et de Fana au comptant en détail et à crédit à une clientèle essentiellement constituée de femmes.
Elles espèrent chacune réaliser un bénéfice par cycle de 30 000 FCFA par mois qui sera utilisé pour subvenir aux besoins de la famille (frais de nourriture, sanitaire et scolaires des enfants.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
