Samba is about thirty years old and he has been involved in masonry for several years. He learned this trade from his father with whom he worked since he was very young. Since Samba does not have enough capital to open his own business yet, he has been gathering materials from different sources and looking for other ways to always increase his stock of wooden formwork, which is what he needs the most. This loan will help him to purchase some wood planks, props and wooden formwork. Once he has purchased these materials, he will be in a position to rent them or use them himself on construction sites. Samba's wish is to have a stable stock of wooden formwork in order to maximize his profit and to start an important construction company.

To reach borrowers who would not normally qualify for loans, UIMCEC has developed partnerships with a number of local organizations created by the poor to promote savings and mutual support. Most members of these organizations take group loans from UIMCEC. Some group members have larger businesses requiring more capital, and therefore receive individual loans. To meet their needs, UIMCEC is offering this loan at a lower interest rate with no material guarantee requirement. By supporting this loan, you are helping poor borrowers access credit at  lower interest rates.
