A local farmer from the Tbaung Khmum district of Kampong Cham province, Kimvang is 46 years old and married. The main sources of her family income are rice farming and her paid job. She has been in business for 27 years, earning about 20,900 KHR per day. Kimvang, who has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for her past seven loans with a successful repayment history, has joined a group of three to take out another loan. As the leader, she will spend her entire loan portion to pay the plowing fee and to renovate her house. She hopes to fix her house and to get a good yield from her crop.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
