In this Group: Kamate, Kyangwi, Lukoo, Naminani
Kamate, a merchant, is a member of the business group “Générosité A”. At 35 years old, she is a dynamic entrepreneur and the widowed mother of three children who all go to school.

Kamate sells high quality, super wax pagnes (colorful cloth). She conducts her sales at the local market, which is a busy place. She has partnered with the Hekima MFI for financial assistance.

Kamate has been engaged in this activity for 10 years, and she plans to use this new loan to buy 27 pagnes.

Her goals for the future are to buy a plot of land, and to ensure that her children are fed and educated.

Kamate wishes to thank the Hekima MFI for helping women entrepreneurs to become self-sufficient who cannot use the traditional banking system, especially in these difficult times following the war in the Eastern region.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
