Master Property Realty is a one-stop shop for real estate and tax services in the local community. Luis founded the company in 2005 as a real estate office in Chula Vista, taking advantage of the booming local real estate market. However, when the real estate bubble popped in the last economic downturn, Luis struggled to keep Master Property Realty alive.

The chill in San Diego’s real estate market was no match for the fiery passion and determination Luis had for his business, leading Master Property Realty to survive where so many similar businesses had failed.

Never one to miss out on a learning opportunity, Luis says the financial crisis taught him to more closely follow real estate market fluctuations, and it made him more conservative in the way he runs his business. He also adapted to changing market conditions by moving his business from Chula Vista to North County San Diego and expanding the scope of his business to include tax services and loan modification in order to better serve the needs of his customers.

Master Property Realty is a family business, currently staffed by Luis and his wife Maria. Together they have two twin girls who recently graduated from San Diego State with degrees in Finance and Economics.

They will use their Kiva loan to finance marketing costs, website development and hiring costs for a new assistant. Luis’ hopes for the future are that they will be able to sufficiently standardize and document procedures so that they can properly appraise the value of the business, with the goal that one day they can pass the business down to their children.
