David, of 69 years of age, didn’t have the opportunity to study, but his father taught him little by little how to read and write.

David is married. His wife takes care of the domestic tasks. They have had 12 children in their relation. One of them is still in school; the others live in different homes.

David has worked in agriculture since he was 15 years old. His father started taking him to the field, so he could learn how to do the job. He counts with the help of two of his children to do the agricultural work. They help him from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm.

David also sells products of the basic food basket, and tablets. He sells in two neighborhoods nears his place of residence. Every afternoon he goes out on his motorcycle with a basket, where he carries cereals, beans, rice, sugar, and in a bag he puts the medicines that he sells. He learned this activity from the necessity of having another income for his family. He performs this job from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. After that he goes back home.

The loan he is requesting will be used to buy a calf. He already has two cows, which provide food for his family. He thinks this is a good opportunity to buy the calf since one friend of him is offering it for a good price. Also, the calf is from a good dairy breed. The loan will really help him in the acquisition of the calf.

Individuals who receive this type of loan also get access to technical assistance, information on good environmental practices and increased access to farm inputs like fertilizer. This is considered a high risk loan due to the population and loan purpose, and CrediCampo is one of the very few institutions in El Salvador willing to working with these farmers.
