Liezel, 30 years old, lives in Talic, Oroquieta with her family. Her husband earns a meager income and Liezel wants to help raise income for the family.
She joined Paglaum Cooperative, which helped her in the capitalization of her retail business. She became a MIGS member, which is why she has received loans several times already.
Now she is applying for 6,000 PHP to buy merchandise for her store. She hopes that her business will continue and some day she will be able to send all her children to school.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
