Thembi is a married woman with five children, four of whom attend school. She lives in her own house, which has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are for food and school fees. For the past ten years, she has been selling goats to the general public at the market. The main challenge for her business has been unstable market prices. She joined Yehu in order to gain access to funds. She is applying for a loan to buy more goats for her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
