Asiros is a hard working 48-year-old woman. She has worked without rest in order to establish and keep the businesses she now has, such as a restaurant and a shop. Thanks to these businesses she has managed to hire a person with few economic resources and to offer him a way to maintain his family.

She started her business based on her own initiative because she doesn't like to take orders from any boss and she is very much set in her own ways. She thus set up a business where she could make the correct decisions in order to grow.

In her attempt to get ahead and to improve her business, she is requesting a loan to buy a refrigerator for her shop, which will attract customers that she has had to reject because of a lack of frozen products. She will also buy supplies for the refrigerator, with which she plans to strengthen her shop, offering varied goods at good prices, consolidating herself as the main shopkeeper in the sector, aspiring to form a family, raise a child and leave a good inheritance to maintain himself in her absence.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
