Along with her husband, 48-year-old Bassima owns a bakery that helps them cover the increasing financial demands of their family. Bassima quit school at an early age in order to pursue baking, a profession that was handed down from her mother. While the business struggled a bit at first, it has since been able to provide a steady income for Bassima and her husband.

Bassima has always dreamt of growing her business, so she has requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner Al Majmoua in order to increase her current inventory of raw baking materials, purchases that will enable her to offer better pricing and quality.

In the future, Bassima hopes to diversify her products and purchase the equipment necessary to produce sweets at her bakery, so that she can continue growing her successful business.
