Mischelle (pictured top left) is a widowed, single mom who has struggled financially through the years since her husband’s passing. She had to work 2 jobs to support and raise her two children alone. For the past few years, Mischelle has supported her daughter Megan (pictured right) with two small grandchildren, Riley (The young girl in Megan's arms) 1 ½ and Christian (pictured bottom left) 6 years old. Not only has she been her daughter’s main source of emotional and financial support when it comes to the care of her grandchildren, Christian and Riley, but Mischelle has also taken on the role of being the main financial provider for the family.
Her 6 year old grandson, Christian has multiple health issues including, but not limited to ailments that are intensified by the severe heat and humidity in Florida. The medical attention needed for this child is a heavy financial burden on Mischelle who is a security associate at a retirement community. Mischelle’s ultimate goal is to further her education, which was put on hold when she was widowed many years ago. She aspires to better herself and her financial situation, and to be able to provide stronger financial support for her family.
Michelle will use her KIVA loan to install a new air conditioner which will maintain good air quality, a crucial component in controlling her grandson Christian’s allergies. This loan will help provide a healthy and comfortable living environment for her family.
