Liezel is a businesswoman from Plaridel. She is 38 years old, married, and has expertise in selling. She runs a little sari-sari store and earns a meager income that sufficiently supports her family. She is a full-fledged member of PMPC and has taken out several loans already. She maintains her membership in good standing without records of default. Now, she applied for a loan to restock the store with basic commodities and other consumable items. Liezel continues to look for better business opportunities, proof that she has the passion and the energy to make ends meet for her family.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
