Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Farha's Group's story

Farha is a member of this group from Iraq. (The women preferred to have their faces blurred for cultural reasons.) She is a 42-year-old widow and the mother of three children. She is one of the many entrepreneurial Iraqi women who have started their own businesses to meet the financial needs of their families.

Farha has five years’ experience sewing as a business. When she heard about Izdiharona's qard hassan (interest-free) loans for widows, she applied for 2,400 USD to buy a generator and air conditioner to ease the summer’s unbearable heat on her family.

Farha is aiming to develop her sewing business and increase her profits by opening a factory and hiring jobless women.

In this group: Farha, Marwa, Rana
