Ruth lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is a widow with five children, one of whom attends school. She is looking after other family member (her elderly parents). She has been selling local brew from home, both wholesale and retail, for the last ten years, working seven days a week. She generates additional income from selling charcoal.
She has requested a loan of Ugx 2,000,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to stock more local gin for sale. Her challenges include thieves and transportation. Her dream is to start selling beer, spirits and wines wholesale. She joined MCDT because of the good relationship between the SACCO members and the staff members.
She resides in her own house with access to both electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees.
