The members have different business, including selling meat, selling miscellaneous products, selling vegetables, selling milk, and a grocery store.

This loan will benefit small-business owners in Yolanda's group. Yolanda herself tells us that she joined "Pro Mujer" three years ago following an invitation from a friend who is a member of the organisation. Yolanda currently has a business selling embroidered products. She tells us that she learned to do embroidery from her mother, whom she helped with her business as a girl.

This loan will be used to increase capital by buying material and threads in bulk. She will buy these items from bulk sellers in the La Paz department of the country. She will later sell the goods at her sales point. This work allows Yolanda to earn an income in order to support her family; she has a partner and three children.

When asked what it is that she likes about "Pro Mujer", Yolanda tells us that she likes the training and deals offered by the organisation.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
