It is composed of eight members and is led by a board, where Karina is the treasurer. The members of the communal association work in different businesses such as: production of baskets, sale of clothes, sale of coca, knitting blankets in macrame, sewing backpacks, a grocery store, transportation services. The loan will be used to help small enterprising women, being Karina a member of it. She says that she has been part of Pro Mujer for a year. She joined the group after being invited by a friend, who is a member of the institution. Currently she has a business of sewing and selling clothes. She learned a sewing technique from her brother three years ago and she learned sales strategy from her mother, because since she was a young girl she helped her in her business. The loan she is requesting now will pay for increasing capital (buying fabric at wholesale prices) that she will get from the wholesale sellers of the city of El Alto. After production she will sell it in her place of sale. This way of work will allow her to generate resources to support her family since she is single. When they ask her what she likes from Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the area of health offered by the institution.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
