The Guandugloma credit group is formed of 7 determined people who, despite adversities, see life in a positive way. With their work, they improve the economy of their homes. They live in the canton of Nabón, a place located in the southeast of the province of Azuay. It is a cold climate; the people work raising animals, in agriculture, and many do day work in the city. They keep the cuisine, culture and traditions of their people.

One of the members is Esther, 28 years old. She is married and from this marriage she has had 3 children, 12, 9 and 4 years old. All the children study at the small local school, her husband works in the area as a construction assistant, and they live in their own home.

Esther takes care of the household duties, and works in agriculture. She sells her harvest in the city, she raises guinea pigs, chickens and pigs, and also serves in her store, in which she works every day of the week without a set schedule. Her new loan will be invested in supplies for her store and fertilizer for her fields. Her goal is to grow her store and have more agriculture production.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
