Mwari is married with six children, two of whom are in school. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are school fees and food for the family.
For the past five years, she has operated a mat weaving business, selling from home to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in the business.
With the loan, she wants to purchase bundles of reeds and a tin of dye for her business. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
