She earns a living through farming rice, while her husband works as a worker to help earn income to support the family. Together, they can earn about 25,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day from the current business and save about 15,000 KHR each day for future needs.
This is Khoern's eighth microloan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She successfully used the previous loans to improve her living conditions.
Now leading her group to apply for a loan, Khoern will use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and pay for labour.
She hopes to produce more rice and sell it for a good price to make a better living.
About VisionFund CambodiaVisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
