Nana
Nana is a 71 year old farmer in Atebubu in the Atebubu-Amantin District of Ghana where he lives with his wife, Janet and seven children of which two attend school. One is in Nursing training and the other in senior high school. He also has other dependants who are orphans. He has been farming for the past 21 years producing maize and rice which he sells from his house.
Farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, etc. have become very expensive as well as tractor services. With the Kiva loan, Nana can buy quality seeds, fertilizers, and herbicides and to pay for tractor services.
This will help him increase his yields and profits. The money from the profits will be invested in his children’s and the other orphans’ education and provide better housing accommodation for his family.
