Residing in a rural village of the Cheung Prey district of Kampong Cham province, Sambo is aged 25 years. To support the family, he has been farming rice and sometimes he works for others for a fee. The current business earns his family about US$14 per day to meet his family’s needs.

Sambo has been with VisionFund for one loan cycle and completely paid back the past loan. Now he is going to apply for a new loan to pay for the university's tuition fee for his youngest brother. He hopes this loan will enable him to support his brother's education and keep him in university until his graduation.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
