A loan of $1,100 helped prepare land and buy insecticide and fertilizer.

María Elía's story

María is 48 years old. She studied until the sixth grade since she had to work in order to survive. Her household economic situation was very difficult and she had to leave her studies and start working. Her husband works in construction. She is the mother of five children. Only two daughters live at home. One is 17 years old and the other is 14 years old. They are both in school.

María works as a housekeeper. Her mother taught her this trade. Thanks to her, now she can survive with this work. She has been dedicated to this work since she was young. She mentions that her daughters and husband help her in their free time. She does not have a set schedule, so the household chores have to be started very early so that she can help her husband before leaving for work.

The loan she is requesting is for preparing land and buying insecticides and fertilizer in order to invest in farming corn and beans, earn income and give better food to her family.

She wants to be able to help her two daughters economically with their studies in the future, so that they can become professionals. With the help of her husband, she wants to be able to remodel her home in order to live more comfortably with her family. She wants better harvests that generate greater profits for her family.
