Nicolas is 49 years old and provides passenger transportation. He has spent his whole life behind the wheel. He married at age 30 and formed a family. Now he has a son (18) and he is building his and his son’s home.

Nicolas says that transportation is very hard. “Sometimes we are at the mercy of the weather; constant rains make roads crumble… but I wouldn’t trade this for anything. His son attends school and travels there by bicycle. His current home relies on water delivery trucks, that sometimes don’t come or they run out of water, leaving his family unsupplied with this elemental liquid.

With the help of his family and his brothers, Nicolas was able to build his home and now needs a loan to install running water for the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.

El señor Nicolas es un transportista que vive del transporte de pasajeros, tiene 49 años y toda su vida la paso frente al volante. A la edad de 30 años se casó y formó una familia , ahora tiene 1 hijo(18) y se encuentra en la construcción de su hogar y el de sus hijo.
El señor Nicolas cuenta que el trabajo del transporte es bastante duro; “ a veces estamos a merced del estado del tiempo, constantes lluvias hacen que los caminos se derrumben… pero no lo cambiaría por nada” sus hijo estudia en una escuela a la cual se dirige en bicicleta, su casa actual goza de agua alimentada por camiones cisterna que en ocasiones seguidas no llegan hasta el lugar o se le acaba el agua, quedando toda su familia desprovista de este líquido elemento.
Con la ayuda de su familia y de sus hermanos El señor Nicolas logró la construcción de su hogar y ahora necesita un préstamo para la instalación de agua potable para la cocina, el baño y la lavandería.

This loan will help fund a new product Emprender has launched to provide clean drinking water and sanitary facilities to Bolivian families. Emprender is partnering with Fundación SODIS, an NGO specializing in water and sanitation access, to make this possible. SODIS identifies households that need water tanks, running water toilets, ecological toilets, water filters and water connections in underserved areas, and supervises their installation. Emprender works with SODIS to help finance these the infrastructure improvements.
