Perla is a 67-year-old member of Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative, from Calaran, Calamba, Misamis Occidental, industriously caring for her vegetables activities. She is married and has three children. She personally takes charge of their business and their children work for them as support. The business is doing well. Perla has humbly taught her children the techniques of how to enjoy business and, at the same time, make earnings from it. The ups and downs of the business are nothing, but a normal situation for her.
Now Perla sees a good opportunity to expand their business. She is requesting a PHP 5,000 loan from Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative for capital to buy an additional variety of vegetables to sell. Perla hopes to sustain her business and become a vegetable supplier in the local community.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
