Therefore, Tingzanieng and the rest of the group members want to purchase solar lighting devices which are a cleaner alternative. However, these women cannot afford them as they entail finances out of their reach. So, they are looking for support in the form of a loan amounting to 182,595 INR to buy solar lighting devices each costing 12,173 INR. Your help will not only bring an end to their daily ordeal with the noxious fumes but also engender additional savings to live a better life.

This loan is part of WSDS' effort to promote solar energy and make it affordable for low-income households. It will be used to purchase a solar home lighting system and targets some of the most rural and remote parts of northeast India. These villages either do not have electricity at all or lack reliable electricity. By funding this loan, you are helping to provide lighting to households while also promoting green energy products and helping individuals reduce their energy expenses.

This borrower will likely repay your loan much sooner than that, in which case, the Field Partner may re-loan your funds to help other local borrowers. WSDS-Initiate is an inclusive nonprofit that works with women across all tribes and minority communities in Manipur, located in the remote northeast region of India. Most organizations concentrate their work in the plains region of Manipur, but WSDS is among the very few organizations serving women in the isolated hills. Political unrest and frequent economic blockades in the area make it very difficult to provide services, resulting in Manipur having the lowest penetration of financial services in the country.
