Musa wants to buy welding tools for his welding profession. He works for pay at a service shop where they repair mainly agricultural tractors, as seen in the photograph. He also owns his own shop where he offers services for smaller agricultural equipment.
Musa is a married father of four who does welding and also agriculture as his professions; in particular, he plants fodder and vetch and sells it to locals. The village where he resides doesn’t have much agricultural land for planting, thus most of the locals engage in fishing since their village is located by Lake Ohrid. Some of the locals own little taverns where they serve only fish and other local meals such as corn bread and pickles.
About VisionFund Albania
VisionFund Albania is a micro-finance subsidiary of child hunger nonprofit World Vision International. Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
