Mwanamkasi is a very hardworking woman, who lives in her own house that neither has electricity nor piped water. She has three children going to school. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees. Mwanamkasi operates a fruit selling business, and sells to passersby and neighbors. She cites seasonality as her major challenge. With the loan, she wants to purchase mangoes, oranges, and bananas for resale. She joined Yehu to get financial support.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
