Dorothy is a 26-year-old married female with two children; one is attending school. Dorothy operates a produce business in a busy market. She works four days a week, 11 hours a day, plus does farming as an additional income business. She began the business to have a source of income, since she couldn't make it for formal employment.
Dorothy has a vision of buying a piece of land and business expansion. However, competition and low capital are challenges she faces. Dorothy is accessing a loan to buy beans and groundnuts to sell.

This loan is part of HOFOKAM's program targeting poor and geographically excluded populations in Western Uganda. In addition to loans, it provides social and business training programs to low-income entrepreneurs and their communities.
