Prossy is the leader of a 5-member group. She is a 30-year-old married woman with 3 children aged between 10 and 3 years. All three children go to school. Prossy doesn’t take care of any additional family members. She is a very responsible member within her group. She resides in a six-room house where she is staying with six people. They have electricity and piped water at home.

The family gets three meals a day. Prossy resides and works in a semi-urban area which is on the outskirts of Kampala. Prossy has a poultry farm at her home. She has at least 350 birds on her farm and she gets 10 trays of eggs daily. She sells to all categories of people, both wholesale and retail.

Prossy receives an average of 20 customers a day. Her main challenges are poultry diseases and thieves. Prossy works seven days a week and has been with MCDT for nine years, servicing her eighteenth loan. She wants to use this loan to expand her business and aspires to having 800 birds.

JOURNAL

Entrepreneur: Prossy Lutaaya’s Group
Location: Kampala, Uganda

On a resent visit to prossy’s business by the loans officer the found prossy doing well in her business

Rosy who runs a retail shop used the loan she received from MCDT to increase on business

She also used part of it to buy more working assets.

The only complained she has is that of lack off enough working capital. She decided on this type of business because she had formerly tried poultry and all her hens died so she thought a retail shop was a safe way to do business

Since joining MCDT she has mange to expand on her business she has also purchased o refrigerator and started selling cold drinks to her customers

All her children now are able to go to school

She is able to meet the basic needs of her family prossy hopes that she is able to continue increasing on her stork she also wants to build a big house for her family.
